Job summary

Sedona Digital seeks a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer Interviewer to join our team on a part-time basis. You will conduct technical interviews, assess candidates’ data engineering proficiency, and deliver clear hiring recommendations based on structured scorecards.

In this role you will evaluate cloud architectures, ETL/ELT pipelines, and hands-on data processing across Azure, AWS, or GCP. Collaboration with recruiters and a focus on consistent standards are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial Data Engineer experience.
• Hands-on data solutions on at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Strong SQL skills and data modelling concepts including star schemas.
• Python for data processing and orchestration.
• Experience with distributed data processing technologies like Spark.
• Secure authentication, authorization and data security in cloud environments.
• Ability to evaluate implementation details and high-level architecture.
• Excellent spoken English.
• Ability to conduct interviews professionally and provide objective candidate assessments.

We are looking for a highly experiencedSenior Data Engineerto join our interview team in a part-time capacity. In this role, you will conduct technical interviews, evaluating candidates’expertiseindata engineering best practices, cloud architecture, and large-scale data solutions.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing and delivering scalable data platforms andpossessesa strong understanding of data engineering principles across one or more major cloud providers, such asAzure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

KeyResponsibilities

• Conduct 60-minute technical interviews for Senior Data Engineer candidates.

• Evaluate candidates’ hands-on experience across modern data platforms and cloud-based data architectures.

• Assess technical depth, engineering best practices, problem-solving ability, and real-world project experience.

• Explore candidates’previousprojects through detailed technical discussions and follow-up questions.

• Evaluate knowledge of data engineering principles, cloud architecture, scalability, security, governance, and performance optimization.

• Assess candidates’ understanding of data lakes,lakehouses, data warehouses, and modern analytics platforms.

• Assess communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.

• Complete structured interview scorecards and provide hiring recommendations after each interview.

• Collaborate with recruiters to ensure consistent evaluation standards.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial experience as a Data Engineer.

• Strong hands-on experience building and supporting data solutions on at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

• Strong understanding of modern data platform architectures, including Data Lakes,lakehouses, Data Warehouses, and Analytics Platforms.

• Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.

• Strong SQL skills and experience with data modelling, including facts, dimensions, star schemas, and semantic layers.

• Experience with Python for data processing, automation, and orchestration.

• Experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Spark or equivalent frameworks.

• Experience implementing secure authentication, authorization, and data security patterns within cloud environments.

• Ability to evaluate both implementation details and high-level solution architecture.

• Excellent spoken English.

• Ability to conduct interviews professionally and provide objective candidate assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previousexperience conducting technical interviews.

• Cloud certifications from MicrosoftAzure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Experience with modern data technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake,BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse Analytics, or equivalent platforms.

• Experience with orchestration and transformation tools such as Airflow,dbt,AzureData Factory, AWS Glue, or similar technologies.

• Experience with CI/CD practices and Infrastructure as Code.

• Experience working in enterprise or highly regulated environments.

• TechLead, Architect, or mentoring experience.
