Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Data Engineer in the Business Intelligence department to build and optimize data pipelines, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and enable data-driven insights for government customers from Rockville, MD. The role emphasizes Agile practices, API-first development, and CI/CD integration.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in IT with large data sets, proficiency in ETL, and experience with Python, SQL, and visualization tools like

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen.
• Must obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• 7+ years IT experience with large, complex data sets.
• Experience building data pipelines from varied sources.
• Proficiency in ETL, testing and validation.
• Proficient in Python, R, SQL, SAS.
• Strong knowledge of big data tools and storage.
• Understanding of Agile principles and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Git version control experience.
• Experience creating and consuming APIs.
• Knowledge of DHS standards is a plus.
• Python experience highly considered.
• Visualization with Tableau or PowerBI.
• Shell scripting on Linux.
• Translate business and technical requirements into data strategies.
• Communicate technical terms to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop data pipelines end-to-end to store, manage, and provision data to consumers.
• Be an active member of an Agile/Scrum team and follow best practices.
• Write code to ensure data extraction and processing performance and reliability.
• Support continuous automation for data ingest.
• Advocate lean-agile engineering principles such as API-first design and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with program management and engineers on complex requirements.
• Foster an environment of customer service, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork.
• Work with cross-functional teams including researchers, product managers, and engineers.
