Job summary

General Motors in Austin, TX is seeking a Data Engineer with hands-on cloud data warehouse experience. You will design, implement, and optimize scalable solutions including an ODS layer, using GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Databricks, and Azure.

You will build real-time streaming pipelines, deploy in Azure, and drive CI/CD with automated testing and release management while mentoring teammates and defining engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented design.
• Experience building production-grade backend services and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with streaming technologies (Flink, Pulsar, Kafka).
• Experience designing GraphQL APIs and PostgreSQL schemas.
• Experience with Databricks and Azure cloud deployments.
• CI/CD with automated testing, packaging and release management.
• Version control with Git and collaborative workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java services and distributed applications.
• Build real-time data streaming pipelines using Flink, Pulsar, and Kafka.
• Develop GraphQL APIs to access operational data securely and efficiently.
• Design ODS layer using GraphQL and PostgreSQL and integrate with Databricks.
• Deploy and operate apps in Microsoft Azure with cloud-native patterns.
• Implement CI/CD, automated tests, and release processes.
• Troubleshoot across application, streaming, database, and cloud environments.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering standards and reusable patterns.
• Utilize AI prompting to accelerate development while maintaining security.
