Job summary

PetSmart LLC seeks a Senior Data Engineer based in Phoenix, AZ to create sustainable reporting and data solutions that drive business value. You will design and implement BI solutions using MicroStrategy, Snowflake, and Tableau, collaborating with architecture, lead engineers, and business teams to meet complex needs while aligning with roadmap and best practices.

The role requires a strong foundation in SQL, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and Python, with a track record of delivering end-to-end

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, CE, MIS, or related field with 5 years of related progressive experience.
• 5 years designing end-to-end BI solutions using MicroStrategy and Tableau enterprise tools.
• 5 years with SQL queries and data warehousing concepts; security administration.
• Collaborating with data/solution architects, lead engineers and business teams to capture requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Information Architecture, Lead Engineers and business area teams to build detailed technical design documents, to meet business needs for complex projects, considering capabilities, risks, and system dependencies.
• Apply an understanding of business intelligence, data warehousing, data modeling, architectures, and terminology.
• Develop successful relationships with external and internal partners.
• Be accountable for the design, build, test, and deployment of full lifecycle reporting and analytic solutions.
• Design and maintain ETL/ELT processes to ingest data from multiple sources (APIs, flat files, RDBMS, Web) using ETL/ELT and Python‑based frameworks.
• Champion efforts to ensure appropriate development best practices and assist with strategy and roadmap development.
• With our Agile methodologies, work on features and stories, meet business expectations, influence outcomes, and maintain stated timelines.
• Partner with business teams and external third‑party vendors to execute solutions.
