Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions using Azure data services such as Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Azure Functions, and Databricks.

You will collaborate with analytics, product, architecture, governance and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions and mentor junior engineers while contributing to standards and reusable patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in information technology or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant data engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and cloud data technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions.
• Collaborate with analytics, product, architecture, governance and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and reusable patterns.
• Oversee data extraction, ingestion, transformation, and quality tasks.
• Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance across pipelines and storage.
• Drive continuous improvements in data processing methods and best practices across projects.
