Job summary

Encore Finance Group in New York City / Hollywood, FL is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own the data platform, build scalable data ingestion, and deliver maintainable tooling. You will work directly with the COO, partner with business teams, and implement reporting infrastructure and automation.

You will design data models, integrate diverse sources, and enable dashboards and analytics while guiding AI decisions and maintaining secure access.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in data engineering with ownership of production pipelines.
• Strong SQL and Python with data transformations and quality checks.
• Experience designing and operating a cloud data warehouse.
• Ability to deliver projects from requirements through deployment and support.
• Experience integrating APIs, databases, spreadsheets, and file-based sources.
• Familiarity with SharePoint integrations or comparable enterprise environments.
• Experience with workflow orchestration, version control, testing, and deployment.

The Opportunity

As Senior Data Engineer you will own the architecture, development, and operation of our data platform. Reporting directly to COO, you will partner with business teams to turn operating priorities into practical solutions, building and implementing reporting infrastructure, data ingestion, document extraction, and workflow automation. This hands‑on, individual contributor role combines technical direction with execution and requires close collaboration with colleagues to resolve data issues and deliver maintainable tools. Located in NYC (Mid-town) or Hollywood, FL office.

What You’ll Do

• Own the data platform. Assess the current environment, define the architecture and roadmap, and build reliable infrastructure that scales with the business.
• Connect business systems. Develop and maintain pipelines across Zoho CRM, Azure, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, loan systems, servicing partners, and external data providers.
• Create consistent data models. Organize all source data with clear relationships, documented metrics, and historical records that support point‑in‑time reporting.
• Build ingestion and extraction tools. Create reusable services and internal tools that collect, validate, and structure data. Apply AI‑assisted extraction where appropriate, with validation and human review for uncertain results.
• Automate operational processes to replace repetitive tasks. Use orchestration software tools and custom code as appropriate.
• Establish data quality. Detect data defects and work with business teams to improve data hygiene at their source.
• Implement monitoring, failure alerts, recovery procedures, testing, and deployment processes. Maintain clear technical documentation and coordinate with technology and security partners on access controls and protection of sensitive information.
• Enable dashboards and analytics to deliver trusted datasets, data models, and APIs that support reporting, portfolio monitoring, and analytics. Partner with dashboard creators on definitions, performance, and access, and build lightweight interfaces where needed for data ingestion or validation.
• Guide technology and AI decisions. Partner with leadership on AI priorities and evaluate existing tools based on reliability, security, maintainability, and cost.

What You’ll Bring

• 5-10+ years of data engineering experience, including ownership of production pipelines and data infrastructure.
• Strong SQL and Python skills with building integrations, transformations, and data quality checks.
• Experience designing and operating a cloud data warehouse or database platform.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects from business requirements and architecture through implementation, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Experience integrating APIs, databases, spreadsheets, and file-based sources.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint integrations or comparable enterprise environments.
• Experience with workflow orchestration, Git version control, testing, and deployment practices.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with non‑technical stakeholders to understand processes and resolve data issues.
• A degree in computer science,information systems, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience that would be helpful

• Mortgage lending, real estate finance, private credit, banking, or another financial services business.
• Loan origination, servicing, financing facilities, securitization, or investor reporting data.
• Building a data platform as an early or first engineering hire.
• Document processing and AI‑assisted extraction, including accuracy evaluation and exception handling.
• Supporting business intelligence tools and collaborating with end‑user stakeholders.

Compensation

New York Salary Range:$170,000 - $210,000
