Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team is seeking an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain servers and server components. You will work on networks, routers, switches, and related infrastructure, with hands-on rack installation and occasional demanding physical tasks.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lb, willingness to work non-standard hours, travel as needed, and strong troubleshooting across OS, hardware, and networking. Location: Reno, NV.

Qualifications

• Experience with component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
• Experience with networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50lb and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours including weekends/nights/holidays.
• Travel to support business priorities as required.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams.
• Report issues and follow procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues with equipment or infrastructure.
• Maintain the security and integrity of data per Google security standards.
• Disassemble equipment at end-of-life via replacement or maintenance in teams.
• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, or infrastructure.
