Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC and plumbing design for data centers, with focus on HyperScale and colocation facilities. The role emphasizes project leadership, design of robust systems, and coordination across multiple disciplines.

You will contribute to engineering deliverables, CFD modeling, energy efficiency studies, and adherence to codes while developing skills through challenging projects and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering required.
• Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record requirements.

Responsibilities

• Leads and provides directions on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and BV policies.
• Ensures compliance with BV quality program and provides guidance to others.
• Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Prepares complex engineering deliverables for larger/multiple projects and performs complex calculations; manages budget, schedule, and quality.
• Mentors and delegates tasks to lower-level staff and coordinates multi-discipline activity on projects.
• Identifies client interests and drivers and supports business development or pursuit activities when applicable.
• Assists with performance management, mentoring, and development of staff.
