Job summary

Digital Realty is seeking an Essential Infrastructure Manager in Ashburn, VA to lead day-to-day operations of a large-scale data center mechanical plant, ensuring reliability and availability of critical systems.

You will manage maintenance programs, coordinate vendors, and drive continuous improvement across facilities, focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost control. This role demands strong communication and leadership in a complex operations environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a two-year technical degree (preferred).
• 5 years of facility management or facility engineering in a high reliability data center.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office suite applications, preferably Microsoft Project, Visio or AutoCad.
• Advanced written communication and technical writing skills.
• Strong problem solving to develop creative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Possess comprehensive knowledge of large-scale Data Centers, including mechanical and fire protection infrastructures.
• Understand building automation systems to control mechanical plant infrastructure.
• Schedule, coordinate and participate in all significant planned and emergency maintenance.
• Ensure maintenance is executed with controlled, proven methods for uninterrupted critical loads.
• Develop operating and maintenance strategies for continuous availability of critical systems.
• Develop and update preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Coordinate and inspect services performed by outsourced vendors.
• Manage costs and budgets of the Essential Infrastructure Department and operations.
• Maintain compliance with policies and procedures and enforce best practices.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and build relationships with key contacts.
