Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support its growing Data Center practice across the United States in a hybrid work model. You will design fire protection systems, perform code analyses, and ensure life safety and reliability for mission-critical facilities.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of experience, a PE license, and a degree in Fire Protection or related field. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and direct client interface are key elements of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 5+ years of fire protection engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Fire Protection Engineer for Data Center and Mission Critical projects.
• Provide fire protection system design, code analysis, and life safety engineering.
• Establish project fire protection design criteria, basis of design reports, and technical standards.
• Participate in design reviews and quality assurance/quality control efforts across multiple projects.
• Conduct code evaluations and interpretations using NFPA, IBC, IFC, FM Global, and client-spec standards.
• Develop suppression system concepts (water-based, pumps, pre-action, clean agent, special hazards).
• Perform hydraulic calculations for fire water networks, pumps, tanks, and sprinklers.
• Coordinate fire protection designs with mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and architectural disciplines.
• Interface with clients, insurance carriers, AHJs to obtain approvals and resolve issues.
• Support large-scale campus master planning and hyperscale data center developments.
• Assist project managers with scope, staffing, budgets, schedules, and risk management.
• Support proposal development and business development in Data Center market.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, codes, and industry trends.
