Job summary

Suffolk is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the most complex, large-scale projects from pre-construction through final bids. You will develop budgets, GMP, value engineering, and risk analysis while coordinating with design teams, owners, and subcontractors.

You will manage the Estimating team, perform quantity take-offs, apply unit pricing, oversee subcontractor buyouts, and maintain quality control of bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in estimating or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of Excel and Word processing programs.
• Experience with estimating software such as Timberline, OST, MC2.
• Understanding of how market conditions affect pricing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure estimating process runs smoothly and client expectations are exceeded throughout the project(s).
• Build relationships with clients, designers and subcontractors to understand needs.
• Facilitate collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
• Participate in business development activities, presentations and interviews.
• Lead the Estimating team including Assistant Estimators, MEP Estimators and Career Start team members.
• Prepare in-house budget and GMP; perform quantity take-offs and unit pricing for materials and labor.
• Understand project scope through document review and design/owner questions.
• Prepare value engineering and risk analysis; prepare qualifications and assumptions.
• Lead subcontractor solicitation and selection; oversee bid quality control.
