Job summary

Newmark is seeking a Chief Engineer - Critical Facilities to lead day-to-day operation and maintenance of Data Center facilities, including electrical, HVAC, fire/life safety, and emergency back-up systems. You will supervise engineering staff and coordinate with the Property Manager for multi-site responsibilities.

Requires a strong background in mechanical/electrical trades, 5+ years of supervisory experience in critical environments, and certifications such as CDCP or PMP preferred.

Qualifications

• College Degree (Preferred).
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in mechanical trades, HVAC, and/or electrical, or registered Professional Engineer.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in critical facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision with managerial experience required.

Responsibilities

• Staff & Vendor Management: Manage operating engineers, electricians, service contractors, and other vendors to operate and maintain the Client’s data processing facilities and support infrastructure systems.
• System Design & Emergency Response: Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the facility’s systems and equipment. Respond to operational and emergency situations.
• Preventive Maintenance Management: Formulate, implement, and maintain strict adherence to the preventative maintenance program with minimal disruption to building services.
• Standard Operating Compliance: Ensure adherence to SOPs, MOPs, ERP, and change control processes for critical environments.
• Safety & Code Compliance: Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local codes, OSHA, and client policies for hazardous materials.
• Rounds & Performance Monitoring: Conduct routine assessments and rounds; analyze data to ensure proper equipment functioning.
• Equipment & HVAC Operations: Oversee operation and adjustments of refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, backup systems, boilers, pumps, and related equipment.
• Equipment Repairs & Log Documentation: Oversee repairs and maintain logs; resolve issues in shift logs.
• Inventory & Asset Management: Maintain parts and tools inventory; annual inventories with proper item descriptions.
• Reporting & Administrative Controls: Submit monthly equipment reports and develop operational controls.
• Client Relations: Respond to client needs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Shift Scheduling & After-Hours Coverage: Manage shift scheduling and after-hours coverage to minimize overtime.
• Training & Certification: Oversee training and certification of engineering staff.
• Incident Reporting: Report incidents and injuries; provide cause/effect analysis and corrective actions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
