Job summary

QTS Realty Trust is seeking a Commissioning Engineer III to lead commissioning across base building, security, life safety, electrical, mechanical, and BMS/EPMS systems in data center environments. The role involves testing, documentation, and coordination with third‑party agents, with travel up to 75% to sites nationwide.

The position requires a BS in a related field and 7+ years of data center engineering/commissioning experience, along with MS Office proficiency and U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of work experience in data center engineering, commissioning, project management, or equivalent.
• Ability to travel to other Data Center locations as required.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts

Responsibilities

• Assist in all site construction activity and installations, in coordination with QTS Development Team and external resources, to ensure adherence to standards.
• Develop comprehensive commissioning plans for Level 1–5 systems, including connectivity, network, security, life safety, and building subsystems.
• Conduct thorough commissioning activities, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and validated to industry standards and client specs.
• Identify, track, and resolve issues during commissioning, collaborating with project teams.
• Provide feedback to program management to drive continuous improvement.
• Create and review detailed commissioning documentation, including test procedures and reports.
• Witness testing of equipment and validate sequence of operations and documentation.
• Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, contractors, commissioning agents, and facilities operations for seamless integration.
• Develop SOPs, MOPs, and ERP procedures with facilities operations.
• Provide end-user training on operation and maintenance of commissioned systems.
• Adhere to Change Management for approvals of preventive and corrective maintenance.
