R1 RCM Inc. is hiring a senior data/backend engineer to own the data foundations, backend schemas, and APIs powering AI-driven healthcare platforms. You will build reliable, scalable systems for ingesting and serving large-scale healthcare data with emphasis on performance, observability, and security.

The role supports Austin, TX-based work with exposure to seniority levels from mid-to-staff, focusing on data pipelines, microservices, and production-grade ML systems.

Qualifications

• 5 years of software engineering experience with 2 years working with high-throughput data pipelines.
• Experience building data backends behind production-grade ML systems or user-facing SaaS applications.
• Experience architecting microservices and ETL pipelines; strong backend data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Own the data foundations of the stack, including backend schemas and APIs powering AI engine and user-facing applications.
• Build reliable systems for ingesting, transforming, and serving large-scale healthcare data with high performance, observability, and security/compliance.
• Collaborate across teams and contribute to on-call rotations to maintain system reliability.
