Job summary

SupplyHouse.com, a leading HVAC, plumbing, and electrical retailer, seeks a Principal Data Architect to define and drive our enterprise data architecture strategy. You will shape data platform direction, governance standards, and scalable patterns that empower analytics, AI/ML, and business intelligence across the company.

This remote role reports to the VP of IT and collaborates with Engineering, Analytics, Security, and Product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Architecture, or Platform Engineering.
• 5+ years designing enterprise-scale cloud data architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expertise in data warehousing, Lakehouse architecture, distributed processing, streaming, and enterprise data modeling (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault, and/or domain-driven design).
• Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and security architecture.
• Experience leading cross-functional architecture initiatives.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and executives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines into BigQuery for core domains.
• Build orchestration patterns with retries, idempotency, backfills, SLAs/SLOs, incident response.
• Implement data quality and testing frameworks and standardize monitoring/observability.
• Standardize CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code patterns for data systems.
• Lead modernization initiatives such as legacy warehouse to cloud lakehouse migrations.
• Create and own analytics-ready datasets and models for self-serve reporting.
• Establish data architecture standards including modeling conventions and versioning.
• Oversee domain-driven modeling and data product design.
• Establish governance fundamentals, including lineage/metadata and access controls.
