The Wall Street Journal is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our newsroom data team in New York. This hands-on, high-autonomy role partners with editorial, audience, and product teams to shape how our journalism is reported, prioritized, and delivered to readers.

You will own analyses, dashboards, and measurement frameworks the newsroom relies on, guiding decisions from question to action. You will mentor junior analysts, set shared standards, and contribute to a library of methods.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in data analytics, data science, or a related field in media or publishing.
• Track record of owning recurring reporting end-to-end and delivering analyses that informed decisions.
• Strong SQL skills with BigQuery or Snowflake experience and analytics-engineering like dbt.
• Experience designing and running A/B tests and applying statistics to results.
• Proficiency in Python for analysis and automation, with Git versioning.
• Strong communication skills enabling alignment across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted analytics partner to newsroom editorial and strategy leaders to drive growth and engagement.
• Develop and maintain centralized dashboards and automated reports for self-serve newsroom data.
• Run deep-drive analyses on opportunities, events, and performance shifts.
• Develop novel metrics and analytical frameworks to inform newsroom strategy.
• Own and maintain the reporting stack with data engineering and product teams.
• Design and run A/B tests and translate results into editorial/audience decisions.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to shared methods and best practices.
