Qualifications

• 1–2 years in data analytics, BI, or related internship/project background.
• Proficient SQL skills for non-trivial datasets.
• Experience with Looker, Tableau, or Mode.
• Curiosity and speed in picking up new technical concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication for non-technical partners.
• Care for accuracy and detail in newsroom-focused analyses.
• Standout: BigQuery/Snowflake, dbt, Python, Git, A/B testing, AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Write SQL to answer questions from newsroom editorial, audience, and product partners, translating requests into clean, well-scoped queries and clearly communicated results.
• Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports that expand self-serve access to newsroom data.
• Support deep-dive analyses on major news events, high-priority moments, and shifts in performance.
• Help keep the reporting stack reliable by troubleshooting data quality issues, tracing problems back to their source, and partnering with data engineering to resolve them.
• Contribute to A/B tests and experiment analysis in partnership with senior analysts, growing into independent experiment ownership over time.
• Learn the newsroom's taxonomies, instrumentation, and foundational datasets, and help maintain shared documentation and analytical patterns the team pulls from.
