Job summary

GAINSCO is seeking a Data Analyst III to lead complex cross-functional analyses across Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Finance, and Marketing. You will translate data into clear insights, develop reusable datasets, and mentor junior analysts while delivering trusted reporting assets.

The role requires 5+ years in analytics, expert SQL, Power BI with data modeling, and Python for automation, plus cloud data experience (Snowflake/Azure). Hybrid for Dallas area; remote elsewhere.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role.
• Insurance industry experience, Property and Casualty preferred.
• Expert-level SQL skills across multiple complex sources.
• Advanced Power BI skills: data modeling, semantic models, dashboards, and DAX.
• Python for data analysis, automation, and reporting.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Azure.
• Proven track record leading analytics projects from scoping to delivery.
• Ability to translate complex business needs into actionable analyses and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex analytical projects from scoping through delivery with executive-ready insights.
• Apply statistical and diagnostic analysis to identify performance drivers and risks.
• Build reusable datasets and certified Power BI reporting assets.
• Automate data preparation and reporting processes for accuracy and timeliness.
• Partner with leaders, data engineering, and governance to define requirements and improve data quality.
• Mentor junior analysts and uphold standards for SQL, documentation, and reporting.
