Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Data Governance Leader for our U.S. banking-focused data platform. You will design and implement data quality controls across critical Commercial Banking data assets, using SQL and Python for profiling and root-cause analysis.

You will partner with business and technology teams, develop metadata and lineage, and drive automation with AI-enabled workflows to improve governance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data quality controls across critical Commercial Banking data assets.
• Use SQL and Python for data profiling, reconciliation, monitoring, and root-cause analysis.
• Build automated frameworks to identify, monitor, and remediate data quality issues.
• Apply AI and agentic technologies to automate governance activities and improve operational efficiency.
• Partner with business, data, and technology teams to establish accountability for data quality and governance.
• Develop and maintain metadata, business definitions, lineage, and governance documentation.
• Support identification and remediation of critical data issues.
• Build dashboards and metrics measuring governance effectiveness and data quality performance.
• Contribute to regulatory, risk management, and compliance initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to modernize governance processes using emerging technologies.
• Promote a culture where data is treated as a strategic business asset.
• Increase automation of governance and data quality processes.
• Build scalable data quality controls for critical business data.
• Improve visibility into data health through monitoring and reporting.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Data Analytics, or a related discipline
• Strong SQL skills with experience analyzing and validating large datasets
• Strong Python programming and automation experience
• Experience designing and implementing data quality controls and monitoring frameworks
• Knowledge of data governance principles, metadata management, lineage, and data stewardship
• Experience collaborating with both business and technology stakeholders
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities
• Experience using AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and business outcomes
• Experience with Agentic AI frameworks and AI orchestration platforms (preferred)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, OpenAI, LangChain, or similar technologies (preferred)
• Experience with Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or comparable governance tools (preferred)
• Experience using Power BI or Tableau (preferred)
• Banking, commercial lending, risk management, or financial services experience (preferred)
• Understanding of regulatory data management and controls (preferred)
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS (preferred)
