Job summary

Databricks in Washington, DC is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead production-grade data and AI solutions for enterprise customers. You will own the architecture, drive design decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems across data engineering, AI, and application development.

You will work with cross-functional teams, mentor customers, and deliver reference architectures while traveling about 20% to client sites.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Experience with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP) with deep expertise in at least one.
• Extensive experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark.
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices for production deployments.
• Familiarity with MLOps, ML/AI models and APIs.
• Ability to design and deploy performant end-to-end data architectures combining data pipelines, models, and user interfaces.
• Strong communication, documentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel ~20% and collaborate with enterprise clients.
• Databricks Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade implementation of data and AI solutions for customers.
• Design reference architectures and build custom applications and data pipelines.
• Guide customers on architecture and design, ensuring secure, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with Databricks teams to deliver engagements and gather feedback.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Create accelerators, frameworks, and reusable assets for scaling across accounts.
