Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in Chicago, IL seeks a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to lead architecture, design decisions, and end-to-end solutions spanning data engineering, AI, and application development for our customers.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires strong engineering expertise, collaboration, and a passion for delivering measurable outcomes while traveling up to 20% of the time.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of production end-to-end data architectures and applications combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces.
• Experience managing technical projects and translating concepts into actionable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead impactful customer technical projects by delivering production-grade systems and reference architectures.
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI applications.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver measurable impact.
• Own architecture and ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with customer needs and company practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, projects, and customer teams to deliver engagement components.
• Provide product and implementation feedback to engineering and support teams to enable rapid resolution.
