Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a hands-on Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to strengthen and scale security across a growing software organization. You will lead vulnerability management, compliance initiatives, secure software development, and cybersecurity operations in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Remote-friendly contract-to-hire with potential for long-term leadership growth. Candidates must hold an active US Secret clearance and be a US citizen.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of software engineering, infrastructure, or technology experience.
• Hands-on experience identifying vulnerabilities and implementing solutions.
• Strong understanding of federal cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting environments governed by FedRAMP, NIST, FISMA, STIGs, RMF, ATOs, or related standards.
• Experience working with development teams to improve security posture.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, executives, and government customers.
• Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications and enterprise software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity initiatives across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Identify, analyze, and remediate application and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
• Partner with software engineers to integrate security throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support compliance efforts related to federal security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in security assessments, audits, and risk management activities.
• Help improve security processes, release management controls, and operational procedures.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend preventative measures.
• Serve as a technical resource during customer discussions and security reviews.
• Contribute to incident response, vulnerability management, and security monitoring activities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and leadership teams.
