Job summary

Abacus Group is seeking a Cybersecurity Advisor to join its cybersecurity consulting (vCISO) team in the United States. You will guide client cybersecurity programs, develop security strategies, and help mature information security practices aligned to business needs and US regulatory expectations.

The ideal candidate has deep experience with Azure and/or AWS, IAM, and security controls, and can communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of technology experience with a customer-focused mindset.
• 2+ years of technology leadership experience.
• 3+ years of experience with Azure or AWS.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, MS-500, MS-100 or AWS Certified Security.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary security advisor for multiple clients, providing strategic guidance on cybersecurity programs.
• Develop and implement security strategies, policies, and procedures for varying client environments.
• Conduct operational risk assessments and develop risk management plans to address gaps.
• Design and advise on secure architectures and solutions tailored to client needs.
• Translate assessment findings and technical risks into remediation roadmaps for clients.
• Prepare client-ready documentation including roadmaps, risk summaries, and executive updates.
• Support delivery of vCISO services across multiple client environments.
• Research regulatory requirements relevant to US financial services clients and stay current.
