Job summary

MTSI is seeking a Senior Cyber Systems Engineer focused on Application Security and DevSecOps to support the DoD Missile Defense program. You will integrate security across the SDLC, assist government leadership, and guide OSS/COTS/GOTS risk assessments for RMF compliance.

Responsibilities include overseeing SAST/DAST data, CI/CD security automation, vulnerability management, and collaboration with ISSM/ISSO teams to maintain secure software delivery across development, test, and production

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
• 7+ years of progressive engineering experience supporting missile defense-related programs or large, complex defense programs/projects
• Demonstrated ability to work with minimal guidance and lead technical tasks
• Working knowledge of secure coding frameworks (OWASP Top 10, NIST SP 800-218 SSDF) and automation tooling
• Experience supporting automated workflows and security test suites within CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with RMF processes, security control selection, and POA&M tracking
• Experience evaluating technical documentation and scan artifacts to support authorization determinations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver briefings and author technical documentation

Responsibilities

• CI/CD Pipeline & Tooling Integration: Automate security within CI/CD pipelines and maintain shared security solutions.
• Vulnerability & Code Analysis: Monitor SAST/DAST scans, triage CWEs/CVEs, and determine risk.
• Scan Exception & Vulnerability Management: Manage automated scan exceptions and remediation milestones.
• Software Assurance Oversight: Oversee GM SWAP Portal assessments for software risk posture.
• Open Source & Commercial Software Governance: Assess OSS/COTS/GOTS software.
• Dependency Risk Assessments: Perform supply chain risk assessments on third-party dependencies and OSS.
• ISSM/ISSO Collaboration: Assist RMF processes and POA&M development.
• Security Control Engineering: Tailor NIST SP 800-53 controls and verify evidence.
• Environment Governance: Monitor environments for continuous cybersecurity compliance.
• CDRL & Deliverable Reviews: Review security documents and ensure compliance.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate cybersecurity requirements to program offices and partners.
• Audits, Sampling & Training: Conduct security reviews and educate developers on secure coding principles.
