Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the Custodian Foreperson or other supervisor designated by the Director of Building Services, this role is responsible for the general cleaning, maintenance, and inspection of all spaces including offices, labs, hallways, auditoriums, restrooms, building interiors, exterior entrances or overhangs, steps, gymnasium, cafeteria, classrooms, and furniture. Assists in loading and unloading furniture, equipment, and supplies, setting up for special events, and maintaining a safe, clean work area.

Essential Functions:

1. Maintenance/Cleaning: Responsible for thorough cleaning of university facilities, including floors, ceilings, walls, carpeting, tile, fixtures, furniture, and more. Tasks include trash removal, restroom supply replenishment, operating cleaning equipment, replacing bulbs, and inspecting work areas for safety and quality. Assists in training other employees.
2. Deliveries: Handles loading and unloading shipments and deliveries, including furniture, supplies, and mail, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive materials.
3. Driving/Trash/Recycling: Operates university vehicles, transports recyclables and trash, maintains cleanliness of disposal sites, and collaborates with Grounds for landscaping maintenance.

Additional Functions:

Adheres to safety policies, maintains campus safety and cleanliness, reports hazards, sets up for events, and performs other duties as assigned.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

• Minimum of six years of experience in cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Knowledge of custodial, trash, and recycling procedures.
• Valid driver’s license in New Jersey.
• Ability to understand and communicate instructions.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, shifts, and overtime, including responding as an "Essential Employee".
• Skills in establishing systematic work processes, customer focus, teamwork, honesty, and integrity.

Note: Education and experience prerequisites may be waived if the candidate demonstrates equivalent qualifications.
