Job summary

Housing Works is seeking a Senior Custodian to clean and maintain the Cylar house property and grounds in New York. The role includes painting, plastering, carpentry, minor plumbing, and repairs on building fixtures.

You will also support apartment turnovers and maintenance tasks as assigned. Qualifications include a high school diploma, experience serving low-income communities, strong judgment, and proficiency in MS Office with Salesforce familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to custodial and preventative maintenance plans to keep common spaces, bathrooms, offices, residential spaces, laundry rooms, and grounds clean and stocked.
• Dispose of trash per NYC guidelines.
• Assist in apartment turnover and perform minor repairs (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling).

• Pay or shift range: $21 USD to $24 USD

Description

Compensation Range: $21/hr - $24/hr commensurate with experience

Overview:

The Senior Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining Housing Works' Cylar house property and its grounds. Performs painting, plastering, carpentry, minor plumbing, and mechanical repairs on building fixtures, equipment, and hardware. Performs and assists with apartment turnovers, work orders and other maintenance/repairs tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

• Adhere to the custodial and preventative maintenance plan to ensure that the buildings' common spaces, bathrooms, offices, residential spaces, Laundry Rooms, and the building's grounds are clean, sanitary, and properly stocked with supplies.
• Put out trash at the buildings in accordance with NYC guidelines.

Secondary:

• Assist in the apartment/room turnover process by cleaning out and preparing apartments for new residents, utilizing trade skills for minor repairs, e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, and heating and cooling.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities, as well as individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions.
• Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities, as well as individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions.
• Demonstrated ability to think critically and exercise good judgment, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal dayto-day supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional computer software skills, including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and working familiarity with Salesforce or similar platforms.
