Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks a Member/Senior R&D Cryogenics Electromechanical Technologist to join the Z Machine cryogenic team onsite in New Mexico. You will field cryogenic and gas fill capabilities, assemble and repair complex mechanical systems, and help develop new cryogenic solutions for high-energy density experiments.

The role requires hands-on assembly and diagnostics, experience with cryogenic/vacuum systems, and the ability to work onsite with relocation provided for qualifying

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalency.
Experience assembling, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems.
Experience with cryogenic and vacuum systems.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance.
Willingness to work onsite with relocation if needed.

Responsibilities

Field cryogenic and gas fill capabilities in the Z Machine facility with a multi-disciplinary team.
Assemble, configure, modify, refurbish and repair systems in the lab space and on the Z Machine.
Collect, process and analyze experimental data using measurement equipment and software.
Develop and implement new designs and modifications of cryogenic and gas fill systems.
Maintain documentation for system procedures and safety; support lab testing of hardware.
