Job summary

Helix BioStructures, LLC is seeking a Senior Scientist focused on cryo-EM to lead structure determination on client programs in Indianapolis, IN. You will manage end-to-end workflows from sample optimization through data collection, processing, model building, and deposition, while mentoring junior staff and interfacing with clients.

Qualifications

• PhD in structural biology or related field with post-doc/industry cryo-EM experience.
• Independent hands-on experience from sample to final structure with EMDB/PDB entries.
• Proficiency with grid prep and vitrification (Vitrobot/Chameleon).
• Experience collecting data on 200 kV/300 kV microscopes using EPU/SerialEM.
• Proficiency in single-particle processing and model building tools.

Responsibilities

• Own cryo-EM structure determination from sample to coordinates and deposition.
• Mentor junior staff and set technical standards; write client reports.
• Express and purify recombinant proteins for cryo-EM samples.
• Interact with clients: lead calls, present results, assess feasibility.
• Optimize samples, grids, and data collection; prepare EMDB/PDB deposits.
• Collaborate with Protein Sciences group to scope projects.
• Prepare SOPs for sample prep, data collection, processing.
