Job summary

Genentech, a Roche subsidiary, seeks a cryoEM/cryoET expert to join the Structural Biology team as a System Specialist II. You will help deliver high-resolution cryoEM maps, collaborate across Roche and Genentech, and train users across all workflow stages from sample prep to data processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years, Master's 3+ years, or a PhD with 0-2 years of relevant experience in biochemistry, biophysics, or structural biology.
• Hands-on cryoET experience with on-grid cell culture, FIB milling, and tilt-series data collection.
• Proven ability to generate high-resolution 3D maps or tomograms from cryoEM data.
• Willing to expand into grid preparation, automated data collection, and facility operations.
• Strong communication and organizational skills in a collaborative team.
• Driven to apply structural biology to drug discovery and patient impact.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-resolution cryoEM maps for collaborative teams.
• Collaborate with Roche and Genentech teams to solve protein structures.
• Train and empower facility users across workflow stages.
• Maintain and operate Titan Krios and Glacios microscopes.
• Test and adopt new protocols and software for cryoEM/cryoET.
• Support a high-performance computing and data storage environment.
