Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks experienced Captains to lead our U.S. flag fleet. Our vessels navigate inland and coastal waterways across the East Coast, Alaska, Pacific Northwest, Great Lakes, and major rivers.

Captains ensure safe operations, uphold standards, and lead crews. They are master mariners with piloting expertise, supported by extensive simulator-based training and a strong leadership culture.

Qualifications

• Coast Guard Master Mariner credential and river/coastal piloting familiarity.
• TWIC credential required for access to port facilities.
• Excellent communication and team-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Operate the vessel in compliance with standards.
• Execute prudent maneuvering, docking, locking, and anchoring.
• Conduct daily inspections of all vessel spaces.
• Supervise, lead and develop deck officers.
• Oversee Shipboard Engineer and coordinate repairs.
• Support hotel and culinary teams in guest service.
• Maintain logs, reports, and administrative records.
• Provide visible leadership through announcements and rounds.

U.S. Coast Guard Master’s license (min 100 GRT with Near Coastal endorsement; 1,600 GRT+ preferred)
