Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks experienced Captains to lead our U.S. flag fleet, with operations along inland and coastal waterways across the East Coast, Alaska, Great Lakes, and major river systems.

Captains are responsible for safe vessel operations and representing the company as a professional leader with firsthand piloting experience. These roles offer on-board accommodations and chef-prepared meals; bridge simulator-based training supports ongoing development.

Qualifications

• USCG Master license with Near Coastal endorsement; 100 GRT minimum, 1,600 GRT preferred.
• Coastal/river captain experience: 2+ years, 5+ years preferred; Z-drive experience beneficial.
• TWIC credential.
• Excellent communication and team-building skills.
• Pre-employment drug testing and ongoing random testing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Operate vessel per company and regulatory standards.
• Lead and develop deck officers; oversee shipboard engineer and engineering repairs.
• Maintain logs, reports, and administrative records; provide visible leadership.
