Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks experienced Captains to lead our U.S. flag fleet, operating inland and coastal routes from the East Coast to the Great Lakes.

Captains ensure safe vessel operations, regulatory adherence, and exemplary guest service while mentoring deck officers and coordinating with shipboard engineers. We offer a comprehensive training program, simulator-based development, and accommodation with meals.

Qualifications

• USCG Master license with Near Coastal endorsement (100 GRT min; 1,600 GRT preferred).
• TWIC credential and ability to pass pre-employment drug testing.
• Extensive captain experience on coastal and river waterways (2–5 yrs preferred).
• Excellent communication and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Operate the vessel in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Execute prudent maneuvering, docking, locking, and anchoring.
• Conduct daily inspections of all vessel spaces.
• Supervise, lead, and develop deck officers.
• Oversee Shipboard Engineer and coordinate major repairs.
• Support hotel and culinary teams in delivering five-star guest service.
• Maintain logs, reports, and administrative records.
• Provide visible leadership through announcements, rounds, and guest interaction.
