Job summary

First Western in Denver, CO seeks a Senior Credit Approver with 7–10 years of Commercial, Consumer, and Mortgage underwriting experience to independently approve complex loan requests and guide a team of analysts. You’ll conduct post-approval reviews, manage risk ratings, and partner with leadership to uphold credit standards.

The role emphasizes mentoring, developing policies, and ensuring regulatory compliance across a high-quality loan portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field required.
• 7-10 years of Commercial, Consumer, and Mortgage Credit Underwriting and Analysis experience required.
• Strong knowledge of commercial, consumer, and residential mortgage lending principles.

Responsibilities

• Independently approve complex consumer, commercial, and residential mortgage loan requests within assigned lending authority limits.
• Perform one-up reviews of credit decisions to ensure sound underwriting and policy adherence.
• Conduct post-approval, pre-closing reviews to verify satisfaction of conditions, policy requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Perform and validate dual risk rating reviews at origination for consistent risk assessment.
• Mentor and provide guidance to Credit Analysts and junior Approvers.
