Job summary

First Western Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Approver in Denver to independently approve complex consumer, commercial, and residential mortgage loans within delegated authority. You will review decisions, validate risk ratings, and ensure compliance with policies and regulatory standards.

You will mentor analysts, support onboarding, and help shape underwriting practices across the portfolio. A strong background in credit structuring and financial analysis is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field required.
• 7-10 years of Commercial, Consumer, and/or Mortgage Credit Underwriting and Analysis experience required.
• 3-5 years of Credit Approval or Delegated Lending Authority Experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of Training, Mentoring, or Leadership Responsibilities within Credit Functions preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial, consumer, and residential mortgage lending principles.
• Thorough understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, collateral analysis, and credit structuring.
• Proficiency with loan origination systems, financial spreading software, and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Independently approve complex consumer, commercial, and residential mortgage loan requests within assigned lending authority limits.
• Perform one-up reviews of credit decisions, providing independent challenge and oversight to ensure sound underwriting and policy adherence.
• Conduct post-approval, pre-closing reviews to verify approval conditions and regulatory standards.
• Perform and validate dual risk rating reviews at origination.
• Mentor and provide guidance to Analysts and Approvers; support onboarding and development.
• Recommend updates to credit policies, underwriting standards, and risk management practices.
• Partner with lending teams and leadership to structure and resolve complex underwriting matters.
• Identify emerging portfolio risks and trends; escalate and mitigate as needed.
