Job description

The position is the first stepping stone in the commercial training program designed to provide the experience and tools necessary to grow within the professional environment of commercial lending and credit risk. The program will include the following professional development duties:

  • Complete credit-specific training courses on an ongoing basis as required by the manager
  • Attend routine meetings which include presentations on the fundamentals of Credit Analysis
  • Participate in mock review meetings to enhance analytical, presentation, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Attend credit, sales, and deal screening meetings to learn about the bank’s customer appetite

Essential functions include:

  • Spreading financial statements and assessing client compliance with financial covenants
  • Analyzing and reviewing new loan request packages to identify credit issues and recommend appropriate loan structures
  • Preparing periodic reviews and analyses of existing commercial relationships, focusing on leverage, key risk factors, repayment sources, cash flow, and debt servicing ability
  • Ordering due diligence reports (appraisals, environmental reports, credit reports, OFAC, LexisNexis) as needed
  • Monitoring and tracking financial reporting requirements
  • Assembling market and industry data into monthly reports for credit staff
  • Creating and updating procedures to facilitate cross-training among business segments
  • Handling special projects as needed

Pay Range : 55,671.68 - 72,373.18 - 89,074.69

Job Responsibilities :

Monitoring of Existing Commercial Loans

  • Spread financial statements and identify concerning trends
  • Review exception reports and collaborate with Portfolio and Relationship Managers to resolve issues
  • Track receipt of financial information and validate compliance with credit agreements
  • Prepare periodic reviews focusing on leverage, key risk factors, and repayment capacity
  • Perform private investor reviews for Warehouse
  • Assemble industry data into reports for credit personnel
  • Make risk rating recommendations

Writing of New Loan Request Packages

  • Prepare approval memos or modifications to evaluate credit structures and terms, focusing on leverage, risk factors, and cash flow
  • Spread financial statements and identify trends
  • Obtain industry data for performance comparison

Development

  • Participate in ongoing credit training courses
  • Attend meetings to learn credit analysis fundamentals
  • Engage in mock review meetings to develop analytical and presentation skills
  • Attend credit, sales, and deal screening meetings to understand customer appetite

Special Projects

  • Update and create procedures for risk management lines
  • Update policies to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Assist peers during workload peaks
  • Support other special projects as needed

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 1-2 years of experience preferred
