Job summary

American Federal Bank seeks an experienced Senior Credit Analyst to support Ag and Business Banking teams with advanced credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management. The role is key to asset quality and growth of agricultural and commercial loans.

You will analyze complex relationships, structure loans, prepare approval packages, and lead risk assessments. Travel to client sites and offices may be required to collaborate across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Agriculture, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or related commercial banking function.
• Strong knowledge of commercial lending principles, credit underwriting, and risk assessment.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
• Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently analyze and underwrite complex agricultural and commercial credit relationships.
• Develop and recommend loan structures, covenants, collateral requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Prepare comprehensive credit presentations and approval packages for senior management and loan committees.
• Conduct annual reviews, risk rating assessments, portfolio monitoring, and internal evaluations.
• Identify emerging credit risks and recommend appropriate action plans.
• Partner with Ag and Business Bankers to support customer relationships and business development efforts.
• Participate in customer meetings, loan discussions, and site visits as needed.
• Provide consultative support regarding credit matters, industry trends, and portfolio management strategies.
• Generate referrals and support sales, growth, and relationship-building initiatives across business lines.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to Credit Analysts and lending staff.
