Job summary

The American Medical Association (AMA) is seeking a Sr. CPT Regulatory & Communications Manager to lead CPT communications and AI coding initiatives from our Chicago office. This hybrid role requires three days in the office weekly, supporting the Health Solutions team.

You will collaborate with AMA leadership, the CPT Editorial Panel, and external stakeholders to advance CPT priorities around emerging AI technologies, translating complex topics into clear executive-facing content.

Qualifications

• Health care related Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 7+ years in healthcare policy, regulatory affairs, coding, reimbursement or related fields with experience translating complex topics into communications.
• General knowledge of CPT/ ICD-10; CPT expertise highly preferred.
• Understanding of healthcare technologies, especially clinical AI, and coding, coverage, and payment issues.
• Superior writing, research, and analytical skills for executive and stakeholder audiences.
• Ability to integrate subject matter expertise with communications and engagement.
• Interpersonal skills to build collaborations with internal/external stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools; familiarity with digital publishing platforms, LLM/AI tools.
• Some travel required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the CPT proactive communications plan across AMA channels.
• Manage the CPT story library and coordinate content with internal units and external media.
• Lead monitoring of LLM narratives and report on engagement and sentiment metrics.
• Prepare reports for executive leadership and coordinate communications working group.
• Provide SME leadership and strategic communications across cross-functional CPT initiatives.
• Lead development of AI-related coding structures approved by the CPT Editorial Panel.
