Job summary

The American Medical Association (AMA) is seeking a Senior Healthcare Coding Analyst for a hybrid role in Chicago, IL. The person will support the CPT Editorial Panel and related boards, developing CPT content and researching coding policies with national societies, payers, and stakeholders.

The role requires 7+ years CPT experience, strong writing/research skills, and the ability to mentor staff. Travel may be required; works in a collaborative, policy-driven environment at AMA’s Chicago office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years CPT experience or equivalent medical society experience; exposure to CPT required.
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P or CPC certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as counsel and support to the CPT Editorial Panel to develop and maintain the CPT code set and prepare proposals.
• Author and develop CPT educational content (books, newsletters, electronic products) for AMA members and stakeholders.
• Proactively identify gaps in the CPT code set and provide recommendations and developments.
