Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of a state bar.
• At least 5 years of attorney experience in a law firm, government, military judge advocate, or in-house counsel.
• Preferred: 7+ years in law firms or in-house legal departments.
• Knowledge of consumer financial regulations (UDAAP, Regulation E, NACHA, Regulation Z, Regulation V, privacy).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal counsel and SME for servicing products and initiatives, including emerging technologies.
• Partner with business leaders, Compliance, and Risk to assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
• Provide practical legal advice by understanding business goals and evaluating risk in novel situations.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across Card Legal and cross-functional risk partners.
• Communicate complex legal concepts clearly to leadership and stakeholders to foster alignment.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
• Collaborate with teammates and outside counsel to resolve issues smoothly and quickly.
