Job summary

EDENS in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced Senior In-House Counsel to lead regional legal support for sophisticated retail real estate matters. You will structure, negotiate, draft, and close complex leases and related agreements, while advising multiple business teams on deal economics and risk.

The role requires a JD and active U.S. bar admission, with 5–7 years in progressive legal positions, including substantial retail leasing.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school is required.
• Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (CA, TX, FL, DC preferred).
• At least 5–7 years of progressive legal experience with substantial retail leasing experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary senior legal partner for regional portfolios.
• Lead complex retail real estate transactions including leases, ground leases, amendments, renewals, and related multi-party agreements.
• Advise Investment Management, Development, Leasing, Tenant Construction, Property Management, Finance, and Transaction Coordination on deal economics and risk.
• Provide risk-calibrated advice on major transactions, portfolio strategy, and high-stakes decisions.
• Direct and coordinate department attorneys, paralegals, and outside counsel; manage outside-counsel performance and cost.
• Improve templates, playbooks, workflows, and legal technology adoption to increase quality and turnaround time.
• Mentor legal team members in leasing, negotiation, strategy, and executive communication.
• Represent the Legal function in regional leadership meetings and cross-functional groups.
• Support enterprise priorities by providing targeted legal support as requested by the General Counsel.
