Transamerica is seeking an experienced Privacy Counsel to lead global privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance efforts. You will translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance to enable responsible innovation at scale.

The role demands a self-starter with excellent judgment and a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks. Hybrid work in select hub locations supports collaboration with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent legal experience.
• 2 years of AI governance experience, including advising on AI regulations and supporting successful implementation of AI governance programs.
• Deep subject matter expertise across global privacy, cybersecurity and AI regulatory frameworks, including CCPA, GLB, HIPAA, NYDFS, GDPR, PIPEDA, and LOPD.
• Strong technical fluency, with the ability to engage meaningfully with AI, data, and cybersecurity concepts.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Experience driving change through influence rather than direct authority.
• Intellectually curious, action-oriented, and willing to fail fast, learn, and iterate.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle complex privacy, cybersecurity and AI legal matters with minimal supervision.
• Advise stakeholders on privacy and AI governance regulatory requirements and translate obligations into practical implementation strategies.
• Partner on global AI governance initiatives and review AI use cases for regulatory compliance.
• Support privacy operations across the global enterprise including PIAs and data requests.
• Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-related agreements like DPA and DTA.
• Design scalable privacy and AI compliance frameworks and processes.
• Identify training needs and deliver privacy and AI regulatory training.
• Drive cross-functional projects, coordinate outside counsel, and respond to inquiries.
