Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Senior Counsel – Litigation and Disputes to join its Legal team in a hybrid on-site role based in Northbrook, IL, with some travel to Chicago. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, this position leads complex litigation matters across product liability, commercial disputes, and regulatory issues, overseeing discovery and depositions.

Qualifications

• JD degree and a minimum of 7 years relevant experience in a law firm or fast-paced and innovative corporate legal department
• Bar admission in good standing
• In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations
• Experience in product liability; commercial and contract disputes; securities litigation
• Experience in taking and defending depositions, preparing witnesses, and attending hearings and trials
• Strong analytical and organizational skills and excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to manage external counsel and collaborate with leadership
• Willingness to travel

Responsibilities

• Manage and support all aspects of potential, threatened, and active litigation matters across identified areas
• Develop recommendations for defense or prosecution strategy
• Support preparation for legal proceedings and represent the company at trials, mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, and depositions
• Advise on litigation risk and strategy
• Oversee internal discovery with outside counsel and e-discovery coordination
• Lead investigations related to legal issues to support litigation and regulatory matters
• Assist with subpoena responses and third-party requests
• Assist with periodic reporting on litigation matters
• Coordinate CLO procedures for dispute and litigation matters
• Support development and maintenance of compliance policies and controls
• Coordinate management of external counsel and vendors
• Perform additional duties as directed
• Hold JD and 7+ years experience requirement
