Sun World International, a California-based agriculture and technology firm, seeks a Senior Corporate Counsel to lead Licensing & Business Contracts, advising across jurisdictions on complex agreements and IP strategy.

You will build and guide a high-performing team, draft and negotiate cross-border licenses, manage contracts lifecycle, and align commercial deals with the company’s strategic objectives while ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.

Qualifikationen

• Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree and active bar membership.
• Eight years of relevant legal experience including commercial contracting and licensing; in-house and/or law firm experience preferred.
• At least 3 years of leadership, supervision, or development of legal/contract professionals.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Aufgaben

• Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, amendment, renewal, and termination of licensing and other commercial agreements.
• Advise on cross-border licensing arrangements involving plant variety rights, patents, trademarks, know-how, and royalties.
• Translate business objectives into enforceable terms while identifying risks and proposing solutions.
• Support contract lifecycle from term sheets through execution and renewal.
• Ensure consistency with IP strategy and commercial model across related agreements.
• Manage disputes and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
• Lead and develop the Licensing & Business Contracts team, set priorities, and report on performance.
