Job summary

Orchard is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our growing Legal & Regulatory team in New York City. The role focuses on commercial and regulatory matters across multiple business units, helping to expand product offerings while managing legal risk.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, and regulatory teams, engage with state regulators, and manage outside counsel as Orchard grows in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in commercial and/or regulatory law.
• Experience with commercial contracts and negotiating with large companies.
• Knowledge of residential real estate laws and regulatory frameworks including RESPA, TILA, the Fair Housing Act, ECOA, GLBA and licensing requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a legal advisor across commercial and regulatory matters and help expand product offerings while managing legal risk.
• Lead relationships with state regulators during expansion.
• Manage outside law firms and supervise internal legal projects.
• Partner with Product & Engineering to balance innovation with compliance.
• Support the mortgage and title ventures, ensuring regulatory compliance.
