Job summary

Orchard seeks an Associate General Counsel to join our expanding Legal & Regulatory team in New York City. You will partner with teams across the company to help build and evolve product offerings, expand to new jurisdictions, and balance business objectives with legal risk.

You will report to the General Counsel in a full-time, hybrid-capacity role with in-office Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The role supports growth across regulated sectors and requires a state bar admission.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in commercial/regulatory space.
• Experience with commercial contracts and negotiations.
• Knowledge of real estate regulatory frameworks including RESPA, TILA, F housing act, ECOA, GLBA.

Responsibilities

• Advise across commercial and regulatory areas, building Orchard products in compliance.
• Lead commercial partnerships from inception to execution.
• Support mortgage product offerings, policies, and state expansion.
• Collaborate with title companies to innovate services while staying compliant.
• Partner with Product & Engineering to balance innovation and risk.
• Engage regulators and manage inquiries during state expansions.
• Manage outside law firms to balance cost and effectiveness.
• Contribute to data privacy and information security policies.
• Potential involvement in equity and debt financing.
