Job summary

Leadenhall Search & Selection is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to support the development and construction of major energy projects across a growing generation portfolio in the US. The role offers remote/hybrid arrangements with California focus and requires strong expertise in energy law and complex project agreements.

The successful candidate will provide legal oversight across the lifecycle of projects, negotiate EPC and construction agreements, and advise on procurement

Qualifications

• 10-12+ years of legal experience required.
• Energy, power generation or infrastructure background required.
• Experience negotiating EPC, construction or major project agreements.
• Exposure to large-scale power generation or renewable energy projects.
• Natural gas generation, BESS, solar or carbon capture experience is relevant.
• JD/LLB and US bar admission required.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support across the full lifecycle of major energy development and construction projects.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex project and commercial agreements.
• Advise on EPC, construction, procurement, equipment and development arrangements.
• Support projects involving natural gas generation, battery storage, solar and carbon capture.
• Identify and assess legal and commercial risks and provide practical advice to senior stakeholders.
• Work closely with development, construction, operations and commercial teams.
• Manage complex matters independently and coordinate external counsel where required.
