Job summary

PowerSecure is seeking an attorney to manage legal issues and compliance for unregulated subsidiaries, supporting project development and construction, and guiding risk assessment and mitigation strategies. The role may involve managing litigation matters and advising leadership on contracting processes.

Requirements include a JD, an active NC license (or other state), and a minimum of 7 years in legal practice with emphasis on energy, procurement, or construction contracts.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required.
  • Current state license in good standing to practice law.
  • Minimum 7 years legal experience with energy, construction or procurement contracts.
  • Experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts.
  • Experience leading other attorneys and legal teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to work with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary legal support for day-to-day PowerSecure issues.
  • Support contract formation and negotiation across various contract types (purchase, equipment, procurement, construction, long-term service, warranty, capital leases, confidentiality).
  • Assist business development through acquisitions, development and joint venture activities.
  • Review, draft, negotiate, and interpret energy sale contracts and PPAs.
  • Support partnerships administration, governance, and compliance activities.
  • Assist with internal board functions and organizational compliance.
