Job summary

PowerSecure, Inc. is seeking an attorney to manage legal issues and coordinate compliance across unregulated subsidiaries, supporting project development and construction contracts while overseeing day-to-day legal matters and contracting processes.

The role includes advising business leaders on risk, mitigation strategies, and potential litigation matters, and collaborating with the PowerSecure legal department to ensure effective legal support across the organization.

Qualifications

• JD required
• Active law license in NC or another state
• Minimum 7 years legal experience with focus on equipment supply, procurement or construction contracts, project development, manufacturing or energy industry
• Experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts
• Experience managing attorneys and legal teams
• Ability to review, draft, negotiate and advise on broad range of commercial contracting matters
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Able to work with all levels of the organization
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrates initiative and prioritization
• Handles confidential information
• Independent worker and problem solver

Responsibilities

• Provide primary legal support for day-to-day PowerSecure legal issues
• Support contract formation and negotiation across stages/types (purchase, equipment, procurement, construction, long-term service, warranties, capital leases, confidentiality, purchase orders)
• Assist business development through acquisition, development, joint venture activities
• Handle contract interpretation and implementation questions
• Review, draft, negotiate, interpret power purchase agreements and similar energy contracts
• Assist with legal support for partnerships, governance and JV administration
• Support compliance function
• Identify contract obligations and ensure proper implementation/retention/management
• Support internal board functions and compliance efforts
