Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
  • Current state license to practice law in NC or another state.
  • Minimum 7 years legal experience with preference in equipment supply, procurement or construction contracts, project development, manufacturing, or energy industry.
  • Experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts.
  • Experience managing other attorneys and legal teams.
  • Ability to review, draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial contracting matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary legal support for day-to-day PowerSecure legal issues.
  • Support contract formation and negotiation across multiple contract types.
  • Support business development through acquisition, development and joint venture activities.
  • Review, draft, negotiate and interpret power purchase agreements and energy sales contracts.
  • Assist with compliance function and governance within partnerships and ventures.
  • Identify contract obligations and ensure proper implementation and management of contracts.
  • Support internal board functions and organizational compliance efforts.
