Job summary

Dollar Tree seeks a Senior Assistant General Counsel – Commercial & Technology to advise on complex IT and commercial transactions, draft and negotiate software licenses, SaaS, and hosted services, and lead contract transformation initiatives.

You will partner with procurement, privacy, information security, tax and finance to drive templates, playbooks, and AI-enabled tools, while mentoring the Legal team and ensuring practical risk management across the organization.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state or territory.
• 10+ years of progressive legal experience with sophisticated commercial transactions.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including technology licenses and services.
• Experience advising senior leaders on contractual and legal risk.
• Experience supporting IT organizations and tech-related transactions.
• Experience leading contract management workflows and templates.
• Experience using AI tools to improve legal workflows.

Responsibilities

• Advise executives on complex commercial, technology, and data protection matters.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on technology and commercial agreements (SaaS, licenses, MSPs, NDAs).
• Balance risk with business objectives and provide practical guidance.
• Improve contract processes, templates, playbooks, and templates with automation.
• Lead and mentor the Legal team and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
• Monitor developments in commercial and technology law and advise accordingly.
